Our Plastics
Specialist, Bill Burke, has an extensive background in the Plastic Film
Extrusion and Converting Industry. A graduate of Georgia State University,
Bill gained his first exposure in plastics as an employee of Dixie Bag
Company in College Park, GA. in the mid 1980's. As the purchasing agent
for Dixie Bag, he realized early on that it was essential to understand
the processes for which he was providing materials. Bill made a point to
become educated in all facets of the plant operation, from active scrap
recovery, to maintaining a good frost line, to performing quality control
checks on finished products.
In early 1990, Bill
got a lesson in the fluidity of the Plastic Film Extrusion and Converting
market upon Dixie Bag Company being bought out by American Western
Corporation. In short order, the two Atlanta area American Western
facilities were sold to Carlisle Plastics, who relocated both under one
roof in Battleboro, NC. As one of four employees destined to close out and
dismantle the Atlanta facilities, Bill's education in machinery continued
further, affording him a true understanding of the logistics of moving
industrial machines.
Since the relocation of the Carlisle
facilities, Bill has enjoyed a career in Sales and Appraisals of new and
used machinery. He is the founder and President of Burke Machinery, the
firm that enjoys the status of Exclusive Plastic Sales Rep for Benick
Machineworks. |
